Manchester City defender Jason Denayer is closing in on a return to Galatasaray on another season-long loan deal, according to reports. The Belgian has already arrived in Istanbul to complete the move and the deal should be announced soon by both City and the Turkish side.
The 21-year-old Belgium international center-back expected to earn playing time under manager Pep Guardiola, but did not see any action in preseason and is below John Stones, Nicolas Otamendi, Vincent Kompany and makeshift center-back Aleksandar Kolarov in Guardiola's pecking order, which disappointed Denayer and caused him to ask for a move to get regular minutes elsewhere.
Galatasaray was the obvious choice given that Denayer played well in Turkey last season and already knows the club and the fans, but David Moyes made a late push over the last few days to bring Denayer to Sunderland and give the Belgian a chance to play Premier League football decision. But the player wanted to return to Turkey, and that deal is set to be announced today.
