Manchester City have made another signing. And it's one of Brazil's most amazing prospects.
The Citizens announced on Wednesday the signing of Palmeiras striker Gabriel Jesus, who joins the Sky Blues on a 5-year-old contract. Jesus will join City in January 2017, and the club paid Palmeiras a £27 million fee to complete the transfer.
Gabriel Jesus is without a doubt one of the best young prospects from the Brazilian league in the last few years, maybe since Barcelona superstar Neymar. Jesus is fast, skilled and capable of scoring plenty of goals. After an incredible start to the season in the Brasileirão, with 10 goals in 13 appearances, Jesus earned a spot in the Brazil team for the Olympic football tournament.
The 19-year-old wanted to finish the season in Brazil, and he'll stay loaned to Palmeiras until December, when the Brazilian league comes to a close. Until then, he can get more experience and join City next year to shine under Pep Guardiola, who called him personally two weeks ago to recruit him to the Premier League. That phone call was enough to convince Jesus to snub Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus, Bayern Munich and Manchester United in favor of a move to the Citizens.
