Manchester City confirmed their place in the group stage after an easy 1-0 victory over Steaua Bucharest in the Champions League Playoff second leg, thanks to a goal from Fabian Delph. With a heavily rotated lineup, the Citizens were quite boring in the first 45 minutes, but turned it on and played good football in the second half to secure the victory and a place on Thursday's group stage draw.
City passed the ball A LOT. Nothing happened. Halftime.
A nice Pep Talk in the locker room was enough to improve the play from City, who increased their intensity and played much better football in the early stages of the final period. After just ten minutes, a great team play with fantastic use of ball possession led to a cross from Jesus Navas and a fine header from Fabian Delph to score City's first goal.
The game was going along nicely, but there was a casualty when Kelechi Iheanacho was forced out with a lower leg injury.
In the end, an easy win, a good performance, and a guaranteed place in the Champions League group stage.
