One of the top prospects in football is indeed a Manchester City player.
The Citizens announced on Tuesday the signing of 20-year-old winger Leroy Sané from Schalke 04. While the fee is officially undisclosed, many reports say that City paid somewhere between £32 million and £37 million to complete the transfer. Sané has signed a five-year contract with the Sky Blues.
Sané was one of Pep Guardiola's top targets for the summer, and the negotiations between City and Schalke took weeks before the two clubs came into an agreement. Once the two sides had a deal, it was easy to convince Sané to join, since the young German had already requested a move away from the Royal Blues when he learned about Guardiola's interest.
Perhaps the most talented prospect coming out of Schalke's academy in the last few years, Sané surely adds everything Guardiola wants in an attacking player: he's fast, he's skillful, he is not afraid of taking players on and he can score as well. He can play in every attacking position, and he might even be a False Nine under Pep. Who knows.
With Sané's transfer official, City have signed four players so far: Sané, Nolito, Zinchenko and Gundogan. Guardiola's next target is a center-back, and a deal with Everton for top English prospect John Stones is very close to being completed.
City's squad is looking pretty damn strong with Pep.
