One of the most rumored transfers of the summer is set to be completed, with a happy ending for Manchester City.
According to multiple reports from German and English media, the Citizens have finally agreed to a deal with Schalke 04, and the Royal Blues' biggest prospect, Leroy Sané, will join the Sky Blues this summer. The 20-year-old has already traveled to Manchester to undergo medicals and will sign his contract shortly, with an offical deal set to be announced soon.
Sané has long been a dream target for Pep Guardiola, who was interested in the player prior to his final season in Bayern Munich. Guardiola signed Douglas Costa instead, and that turned out to be a great signing. Since Pep agreed not to sign any Bayern players this season, he went back to his interest in Sané, and the City board made the transfer happen.
The negotiation process between Schalke and City was long and difficult, and the German club stood firm in their asking price. But after weeks of talks, the two clubs have reportedly agreed on a £32 million fee, with Schalke earning an extra £8 million in performance bonuses over the course of Sané's five-year contract.
While nothing is official yet, this tweet from the official Schalke Twitter feed gives us a pretty good idea of what's happening:
