One of the hottest prospects in world football in on his way to Manchester City.

According to multiple reports in England and Germany, the Citizens have secured the signing of Schalke 04 attacker Leroy Sané, one of the best young talents in the Bundesliga. The 20-year-old has informed his club he wants to sign for City, and the two clubs are closing in on a £40 million transfer deal.

Sané came through the scene as an 18-year-old that nearly knocked Real Madrid out of the Champions League two seasons ago, and he started to shine in domestic football as well, catching the eye of scouts from the biggest European clubs. Like most German talents, Sané was all but set for a move to Bayern Munich this summer, but Pep Guardiola asked the City board to sign the player, and the race was on.

Bayern officials are still unsure of Sané's true potential, and decided it was best to delay his transfer for another summer. City acted quickly at the first sign of Bayern retracting and approached Schalke to work out a deal. The deal is now very close to being a reality, and Sané is set to join Raheem Sterling and Nolito as Guardiola's primary wingers.

The official announcement from City will come in the next few days, if the reports are accurate. The price is obviously high, but that's the market these days. And if Sané becomes everything he promises to become, that £40 million will be nothing compared to his worth. And in Guardiola's hands, he has a big chance to become a superstar.
