The Euro 2016 tournament started on Friday in France and several Manchester City players and former players were in action.

Bacary Sagna, England

Played 90 minutes for the host French and made some darting runs down the right side. France defeated Romania 2-1 thanks to a late wonder goal from West Ham's Dimitri Payet. Sagna was feared by some to be a weak link on the French backline but held up well in the opener.

Raheem Sterling, England

Endured a torrid 80 plus minutes for England in a 1-1 draw with Russia. Sterling made the right runs but his touch was poor, and much like the recently completed season his finishing was awful. But as a winger working the left side Sterling's work rate was tremendous, it's just the end product that is severely lacking.

Joe Hart, England

Didn't have much to do in a match England dominated despite the 1-1 draw but his distribution left a lot to be desired when called on.

Vincent Kompany BBC and ESPN

Kompany, the Belgian and City Captain is out of the tournament with an injury. He's contributing to the BBC (UK) and ESPN (US) coverage of the tournament and no surprise, he's a star of the show thus far!

Former MCFC Players

Vlad Weiss (Slovakia), Robert Mak (Slovakia) and Gelson Fernandes (Switzerland) all saw action on Saturday as well.
