Pep Guardiola is well known for managing the likes of FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich. Leading both clubs to great glory that Manchester City fans can only really dream of. Champions League titles, domestic cups and league medals. All things that Manchester City has sitting right in front of them, just waiting to be taken.
Guardiola hasn't really given up many of his plans yet, but if you recall, as soon as he took over the senior Barcelona squad, things were shaken up. Ronaldinho, Samuel Eto'o, and Deco were omitted from his future plans. Nearly the entire squad was set for reconstruction.
He then brought in numerous players from around Europe. He signed Gerard Pique from Manchester United, who has gone on to become a club legend for Barca. He took players from the youth squad and put them into a starting lineup such as Pedro and Sergio Busquets. And this was just in his first season. His second season continued the trend of reshaping the club.
When he joined Bayern Munich, Guardiola was key in bringing in numerous players, such as Robert Lewandowski. However, at Bayern, his decision making was a bit more limited. While he may have wanted to sign certain players, the decision was not his alone. He managed to cope with that restriction, and still give the team the success that fans wish to see.
Depending on how much room Guardiola is given to manage at Manchester City, we could see a sizable shakeup. But Guardiola showed that he was able to adapt to the rules of the board, and not just act on his own. His experience at Barcelona and Bayern Munich are definitely two very different ones.
One thing is for sure, and that is we can expect success with Pep Guardiola at the helm of Manchester City.
