The only bright spot in Manchester City's terrible performance on Sunday was not happy.

Young striker Kelechi Iheanacho provided the only source of encouragement for City fans during the ugly 4-2 defeat to Southampton, with a heavily rotated Citizen side being completely dominated by Saints. The Nigerian scored twice and continued his great form this season, and is now fighting for a spot in the starting lineup at Santiago Bernabéu as City face Real Madrid on Wednesday in the second leg of the Champions League semifinal.

In a quick interview after the loss at St. Mary's, Iheanacho commented on the loss, but promised he and his teammates will play better in Madrid.

"This game didn’t give us enough encouragement. But we will put it behind us and focus on the Real Madrid game. Many things went wrong in our team. We lost so many balls and didn’t defend well.

"I think we’re going to come stronger in the next game."
