Manchester City new manager Pep Guardiola is rumored to be making plenty of signings to rebuild the squad in his first season at the club, and three new names have been added to the list.
According to the Daily Mirror, Guardiola has shortlisted Arsenal stars Jack Wilshere and Alexis Sánchez, along with Tottenham Hotspur full-back Danny Rose. The trio would cost around £100 million, an investment Pep is willing to make as he sees the three players as potential key members of his new squad.
Wilshere is one of England's best midfielders, with playmaking abilities and creativity that make him one of the Premier League's top players. However, Wilshere is a major liability because of his injury record, having started only two league games over the last 12 months. But Guardiola is a fan, and Wilshere has been linked with City in the past. There is no doubt he would be a huge addition to the squad if he remains healthy, but the "IF" might just be too big for the risk (and the money spent).
Alexis Sánchez is one of the best attackers on Earth, and even though this past season wasn't his best, he picked up some of his form over the last few months, an encouraging sign for all football fans. The Chilean is reportedly unhappy at Arsenal, and could be looking to leave the Gunners for a better situation. Alexis was an important part of Pep Guardiola's Barcelona team, and he might be thinking of reuniting with the coach at Etihad Stadium.
Finally, Danny Rose became perhaps the best full-back in England this season, taking a huge step towards world-class status after his campaign with Tottenham. The left-back is a key member of Mauricio Pochettino's side, both going forward and on defense, and would be a very good replacement to Aleksandar Kolarov, who will leave the Citizens this summer. An important factor for Rose's signing is that he would register as a homegrown player, something Guardiola has to keep in mind when rebuilding the squad this summer.
Of course that Silly Season is really underway, especially with the uncertainty regarding City's summer. But let me tell you: I wouldn't mind having these three joining. They're good, you know.
