Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has collected the Barclays Player of the Month award for the fourth time in his career. Steven Gerrard, Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie are the only player who have won the award five times or more. Aguero joins a distinguished list of players who have won the award four times including Alan Shearer, Paul Scholes, Frank Lampard, Cristiano Ronaldo, Dennis Bergkamp and Thierry Henry.
Aguero scored seven goals in April and recorded a hat-trick in the 3-0 victory at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea. The seven-goal haul came after a shaky February and March for Aguero where he misfired in some of the club's biggest games of the league campaign when the Premier League title was still very much up for grabs.
However, Aguero's goal-scoring exploits in April very much returned Manchester City into the heart of the race for fourth spot and the final UEFA Champions League position from the Premier League.
