Manchester City will have a busy summer, and a Real Madrid star could be on the Blues' radar.
According to a report from Spanish outlet El Confidencial, the Citzens and Arsenal are set to battle for the signing of Madrid star James Rodríguez, who could be looking to leave his club this summer. Since new Real manager Zinedine Zidane took over, the Colombian has become a bench option, missing the most important games and seeing very little playing time as a starter.
James' representative, Portuguese mega agent Jorge Mendes, will meet with Madrid president Florentino Pérez in the upcoming weeks to discuss the player's situation. The 24-year-old was one of the Blancos' best performers in his debut season, but has fallen down the pecking order in the following campaign, and Mendes is not satisfied with the lack of minutes for one of his best clients. If there isn't a prospect of more minutes for James next season, he could be on his way out.
Manchester City will be going through a major squad overhaul with the arrival of Pep Guardiola, and having a player of James' caliber and talents would certainly be something the Catalan coach can appreciate. Since he's a Madrid star and is a Mendes client, he would definitely be an expensive signing. But if made, under Pep, could be a great one.
