Manchester City's Isobel (Izzy) Christiansen who is currently injured was honored Sunday night in the PFA Awards as Women's Player of the Year. Christiansen has been on fire for club and country over the last twelve months.
Christiansen spoke upon receiving the honor.
"I'm feeling extremely proud - it still hasn't sunk in yet!
"I'm obviously delighted to win such a prestigious award and I want to thank everybody that's helped me get to where I am today.
"I feel like it's just the start of my career and hopefully, I can go on to win more things.
"I've always said since I've been young here's no better accolade than being recognised by your teammates and this is the icing on the cake.
"I feel extremely honoured to be given this award in such a fantastic era for women's football."
Riyad Mahrez of Leicester City was named PFA Men's Player of the Year while Spurs Dele Alli won the Men's Young Players of the Year award.
