John Stones is very close to joining the Blues. But the other Blues still want him.
According to a report from The Sun, reigning Premier League champions Chelsea will rejoin the race to sign the Everton defender, who looks set to leave the Toffees this summer despite a poor run of form this term following an amazing campaign two seasons ago. After having several offers (including a giant £37 million bid) rejected last summer, the London Blues had all but given up on Stones' signing.
But, always according to the report, new Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has put the 21-year-old at the top of his transfer list and has asked his new club to make the deal happen. The only problem is that new City manager Pep Guardiola also wants Stones and has asked his club to make the signing in the summer, meaning we are definitely getting a bidding war between the two richest teams in England in the upcoming months.
Get ready. It will not be pretty.
