Manchester City travel to the northeast for perhaps the final time for a few years to come as they take on Newcastle United at St. James' Park. City are currently in their best form since the early stages of the season, hoping to extend the league winning streak to four matches on the trot. We may not catch Spurs for second place, but it would be nice to extend a cushion on Arsenal in 4th.
Newcastle on the other hand, are on the brink. With just 28 points and 5 matches remaining, the odds are stacked against the 19th placed club. Neighbors and rivals Sunderland are hardly doing much better, which means the Premier League may be without football from these two northeast clubs next season. With Middlesbrough approaching promotion from the Championship though, Premier League football may survive in that area of the country.
City XI:
Hart, Zabaleta, Mangala, Kompany, Kolarov, Fernando, Delph, Toure, Navas, De Bruyne, Aguero
City subs:
Caballero, Otamendi, Demichelis, Fernandinho, Sterling, Bony, Iheanacho
Newcastle XI:
Darlow, Anita, Mbemba, Lascelles, Dummett, Townsend, Tiote, Colback, Sissoko, Perez, Cisse
A very welcome return to the starting lineup for Vincent Kompany then. Delph and Fernando also come in for Fernandinho and the injured Nasri. Raheem Sterling returns to the squad on the bench as well.
