Manchester City learned its quarterfinal fate on Friday and it was to face fellow big spending Paris Saint Germain (PSG)
The Blues have struggled in the UEFA Champions League through the years and now will face off with a side that has eliminated Chelsea each of the past two seasons. PSG under Laurent Blanc has won the French Ligue Un for the fourth successive season running away from the pack in the league.
While PSG represents difficult opposition and certainly a step up in class from Dynamo Kiev whom Manchester City made relatively easy work of in the Round of 16, the draw certainly could have been worse yielding Barcelona, a side that looks unbeatable at the moment or Bayern managed by future City boss Pep Guardiola.
However, the Blues likely would have wanted to face either Wolfsburg or Benfica both considered outsiders at this stage of the competition or perhaps even Real Madrid who quite frankly appear a broken side this season.
PSG has bowed out at this stage of the competition the last three seasons while Manchester City has never made it this far in Champions League.
