Report: Manchester City Make Contact with Sergio Busquets

Per a report in this morning's Daily Mail, Manchester City has made contact with Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets who earlier in the week had said he would love to be reunited with incoming Blues boss Pep Guardiola.

Busquets was a favorite of Guardiola during the Manager's Barcelona days and his emergence as a strong and reliable first-term performer benefited City directly as it led to Yaya Toure being deemed surplus to requirements. Toure had been seen in only a holding midfield role or central defense at Barcelona by Guardiola, but Roberto Mancini with a more pragmatic footballing philosophy was able to make use of Toure as a central midfielder and at time an attacking one.

This whole discussion was set off earlier this week when Busquets said to ESPN:

'I have always said there are just two persons who could make me change my decision to stay at Barcelona,'
'One of those two persons is my wife. And she is happy here right now, so I don't think there will be any issues on a personal level.
'On a sporting level, that other person is Guardiola. It's clear that I owe Pep a lot and I would be honoured to work with him again.
