It took a while, but Leroy Sané is finally starting to show his worth.

The young German winger was the second most expensive Manchester City signing in the summer transfer window, coming from Schalke 04 as a big deal, the next big thing, with a potential to become a truly special player.

But he arrived injured in England, needed more than a month to recover physically, and just didn't look right in his first few games with City. He was shy, not willing to run at defenders like he used to do in the Bundesliga, and struggling in front of goal. The process of adapting to a new country was difficult for Sané, and there were doubts about his abilites to play in the Premier League.

All of a sudden, Sané started to improve, show some very good signs of his talents, and against Arsenal last weekend, he really displayed his whole game and scored his first goal for the club, which was vital to ignite City's marvelous comeback on that Sunday afternoon at the Etihad.

Now that he's scored and is getting some very good minutes, can we finally see the Sané we've been waiting for? He certainly thinks so.

“Naturally I'm delighted to score my first goal. Being injured was tough but I have confidence in my own abilities. I know there will be more to come, more to give to this team and I am working hard at that, striving to improve throughout.

“It has been quite difficult coming in injured, and also coming to a new country and a new league, and settling in, but then trying to establish myself in the team.

“From that point on it's been about trying to break into the team, hit the ground running, play with all these incredible players and try to do a great job for the side.”
