Since Manchester City’s 4-0 drumming at the hands of Barcelona, the future of talisman Sergio Aguero has been questioned. The recently on-form Ilkay Gundogan has disproved these claims in an interview with The Mirror.
“I think he will stay here. I have no doubt about that,” said the German.
“Sergio is extremely important for us and while he didn’t score against Barcelona in our Champions League win he worked a lot and ran a lot and just tried to keep every ball for us.”
The 26-year-old appears confident that Sergio will stay at the club, and even compared him to former teammate Robert Lewandowski.
“He is very good. I’m lucky that I played with Robert Lewandowski at Borussia Dortmund and now Sergio.
“Lewandowski, of course, is taller, but both are very strong and are able to keep the ball. And Sergio, he is just a goal machine.”
Ilkay and Sergio are forming a strong connection within the squad. They have each made a substantial contribution to the Sky Blues’ season so far and will hope to continue their fantastic form as they push for the league title.
