Manchester City were basically demolished by Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday's Premier League match at White Hart Lane, and according to the captain, it was not a bad thing.
Pablo Zabaleta says the loss was important to show that the team isn't invincible and there's still a lot of work to do this season, and recognized that City lost to a better side on Sunday.
“It's a wake-up call for who we are and where we are. When you play well and win all the games, people talk too much, and maybe now we can see, and they can see, that we are not invincible. We are human and cannot play well every game. There are always teams that can play better than you, and that happened [Sunday].
“You cannot win all the games. We had won six games in a row and knew that one day we would not perform, especially at the top level of the Premier League against a really good team like Spurs.
“We got what we deserved. They were the better team and we have to recognise that. We tried our best but they were the better team. They were on top of us for the whole game. You sometimes have those days where you don't perform well enough, and it's hard at this level.”
