Manchester City have now gone four straight matches without a victory, and the latest setback was a 4-0 Champions League loss to Barcelona, the worst in the Pep Guardiola Era so far.
City played well for 50 minutes, but after goalkeeper Claudio Bravo made a terrible mistake and got a red card for touching the ball with his hands outside the box, the Citizens were dead and saw Lionel Messi score a hat-trick and dominate the Sky Blues in a painful night at Camp Nou.
With such a painful result, no City players took to social media after the game, but a few did speak to reports. Here's a few highlights from the post-match quotes of Guardiola, Nolito and Sterling.
Pep Guardiola
"It is hard to play Barça, but until we went down to ten players, it was open and we were competing against a team with a big personality.
“The first goal was due to an unfortunate slip and then for 10 minutes we were a little bit confused, but we were there; we were in the game.
“We were pressing, we had the possession and we made the chances but we didn't take them and you have to do that to win the game - especially against this team.
“But after the red card, it was over. Every game since Celtic has been the same – we have had own goals, missed penalties and we need to change the way things have been going.
“We created enough chances and arrived at the by-line many times - enough chances to score one or two goals. We know Barça and if you give their strikers an opportunity, they punish you.
"I spoke with Claudio; he is disappointed but it's part of the game. Football is a game of mistakes; he knows what he did, but until the last day of my career as a coach, I will try to play from our goalkeeper.
“There are moments you have to kick the ball out, but he tried to play it and sometimes it happens. He has a lot of experience and he’s one of best goalkeepers of the last 10 years. I don’t have any doubts about him. He is disappointed but he will learn from that.
“[Agüero] didn’t warm up but it was OK – I wanted one more midfield player in that position and that was the reason why he didn’t start.
“I spoke with him and he was good. The decision was made this afternoon. So we are disappointed tonight, but we knew from the beginning it would be a tough group - now we have to focus on Southampton."
Nolito
"We played well in the first half, we had our chances but in the second half we were unlucky. This is football, we need to keep going. Today was a very hard game against Barca, but we did not deserve to lose 4-0.
"Messi is the best player in the world so he makes the difference. When he gets the ball he always does something, a goal or an assist.
"We go back home sadly, but we must keep going, this is football. We knew that we play against a very tough rival and these things happen in football.
"We must be closer now. This is football. We want to grow step by step. On Sunday we have a very important game in the Premier League and we need to win it.
"In the Champions League we still have three important games and we have to win them."
Raheem Sterling
"With a team like this we've got to have 11 men on the field working and pressing hard but that wasn't the case and they punished us, so we have to pick ourselves up and go again.
"It's a big difference when you give the ball to those players up front - Messi, Neymar and Suarez because they are going to punish you they are going to score goals every time they get a chance.
"That's what we needed to cut out... giving the ball to those guys in areas like that because they are ruthless in front of goal.
"But as I said it's a credit to the boys, we tried to play football like the manager wanted us to, we made a few mistakes but we've got to go again, we know we are a good team and we know exactly what we can do, and we'll continue trying to play out from the back and continue trying to do things because it is working and we gave them a good game today."
