David Alaba went from a good prospect to perhaps the best full-back in football in the three years he was coached by Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich. And the two could be reunited in England in the near future.

According to a report from The Sun, the Manchester City manager has requested the board to sign the Bayern defender in 2017, most likely in the summer transfer window. Pep will not renew the contracts of any of his current full-backs (Pablo Zabaleta, Bacary Sagna, Aleksandar Kolarov and Gael Clichy), and with their departures set to happen at the end of the season, Pep will need replacements, and he wants Alaba to be one of them.

Alaba flourished under Guardiola thanks to his talents and most importantly his versatility, playing as a full-back, a central midfielder, a wide midfielder and even as center-back, where he truly shined last season. Bayern certainly don't want to let Alaba go, but with a potential £45 million offer coming from City, they might be tempted.

What do you think, City fans? Would Alaba be a good signing for our defense next season?
