One of Pep Guardiola's biggest transfer targets will not come to Manchester City anytime soon.
Real Madrid C. F. and Toni Kroos have come to an agreement on a contract extension which will see the player linked to the club until 30 June 2022.

That's a quick and painful way to destroy the hopes of any City fan that thought Toni Kroos could be reunited with Guardiola in Manchester in the near future. Pep and Toni worked together at Bayern Munich for a year, and Guardiola was sad to see Kroos join Madrid back in 2014. The Catalan manager was interested in signing the player next year, but with that contract extension, the prospect of watching Kroos being a Sky Blue is now just a dream.
According to German outlet Bild, Kroos will receive a spectacular raise in his new contract, which will pay him a whopping £18 million a year to stay in Madrid. Kroos is the ultimate Guardiola player, and he would definitely be a phenomenal partner to Ilkay Gundogan in the City midfield.
Ain't gonna happen, though.
