Manchester City advanced to the 5th Round proper of the FA Cup with a 4-0 victory at Villa Park against Aston Villa Saturday afternoon.
Manager Manuel Pellegrini was pleased with the effort:
"I'm very happy with the performance of the team because we made some important changes. We're playing so many important games that I think we needed to rotate the squad," he said.
"Secondly we were a very solid and consistent team. It's very important to have different ways to play. We can't press high every game because we have so many games it's impossible.
The Blues return to Premier League action Tuesday with a trip to the Stadium of Light to face Sunderland. The Blues have lost four of the last five league trips to Sunderland but crushed the Black Cats earlier this season in the League Cup at Stadium of Light. That trip is followed up by a table-topping clash with Leicester City on Saturday at Eastlands. The Foxes currently hold a three point lead on the Blues in the league.
