As Manchester City enters its match against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, manager Manuel Pellegrini will be boosted with the news that Vincent Kompany and Sergio Aguero will be back to match fitness to face the Spurs. Pellegrini will be worried at the sight of being without Samir Nasri, David Silva, Wilfried Bony, Kelechi Iheanacho, Gael Clichy, Eliaquim Mangala and Fabian Delph, all of whom are battling injuries. This substantial lack of depth will undoubtedly see the Chilean manager keep U-21 players Pablo Maffeo, Patrick Roberts and Mathias Bossaerts on the bench.
With the absence of David Silva, it is highly likely we will see Kevin De Bruyne play in a central role behind Sergio Aguero, which has become De Bruyne's position since Silva's injury against West Ham United. With De Bruyne in the middle, Raheem Sterling will play on the left wing and Jesus Navas will play on the right. These three players will function as the attacking trio behind Sergio Aguero.
The midfield looks unchanged with Yaya Toure and Fernandinho looking to be the starters on Saturday for City. With the return of Vincent Kompany and absence of Eliaquim Mangala, it is likely that Nicolas Otamendi and Vincent Kompany will be paired up together as center backs for the first time this season. Aleksandar Kolarov will keep his position as a result of his consistent performances this season and Gael Clichy's absence with injury still being out with an ankle injury. With Pablo Zabaleta out with injury, Bacary Sagna will keep his role as starting right back.
