Coming off losses to Juventus and West Ham last week, City travel to Sunderland to begin their Capital One Cup campaign. A win would be nice, but a lineup worthy of this round of the competition is probably more important. I'm sure most of us would like to see some of the younger guys and fringe players get a run out. Key starters should be rested where possible. And it appears we will get the opposite, as the lineups have been revealed as I type this:
CITY XI: Caballero, Sagna, Otamendi, Demichelis, Kolarov, Fernando, Toure, Navas, De Bruyne, Sterling, Aguero #mcfc

CITY SUBS: Wright, Maffeo, Fernandinho, Evans, M.Garcia, Barker, Roberts #safcvcity #mcfc

#SAFC XI v @MCFC: Mannone, Yedlin, Van Aanholt, Coates, O’Shea, M’Vila, Rodwell, Johnson, Lens, Toivonen, Borini.

Lots of starters. This is a bit worrying, but I guess we have no choice but to see how the match goes now. Plenty of youth on the bench. Everyone bar Ferny, actually. Former Blue Adam Johnson gets a start for Sunderland, as does USA defender DeAndre Yedlin.
Thoughts on the lineup? Probably not too many happy City fans out there... Let us know in the comments below.
