Tuesday's 2-1 setback for Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium against last year's UEFA Champions League runners-up Juventus doused a harsh sense of reality on the Blues. Despite the quick start in the Premier League, Manchester City continues to appear an underwhelming force in European competition.
The defeat Tuesday sees the Blues three points behind Sevilla and Juventus in Group Stage play. Last season, Manchester City rescued itself in the Group Stage with two dramatic wins but those were improbable - the victory against Bayern that came late on was achieved largely because the German outfit played the majority of the match down to ten men. The match against AS Roma saw the Blues withstand a major charge before finally breaking through late.
It is worth recalling that last season CSKA Moscow took four points of the Blues in the Group Stage and that two years prior MCFC only won a point in the two meeting vs Ajax. The Juventus loss seemed all too predictable for some Blues fans given recent European experiences.
So we ask the fans, can Manchester City advance?
