Per numerous reports, Edin Dzeko is finally being sold from Manchester City to AS Roma for a fee of around €23m (£ 16.4 m). Dzeko's departure leaves the Blues with two senior first-team strikers in Sergio Aguero and Wilfried Bony. Raheem Sterling has been used as a striker in preseason though his preferred position is in a wide midfield area.
Youngster Kelechi Iheanacho is a consideration as a player to be kept around for depth and the pace he can bring off the bench late in matches. It however can be argued that Iheanacho's development might be hurt by staying with the Blues this season instead of being loaned. At 18 years-old he might struggle to get games or be consistent at the level Manchester City aspires to. Last season, José Ángel Pozo stayed with the first team all season but only got 3 league appearances and perhaps in hindsight it would have been better to loan the promising prospect out. However, Manager Pellegrini's hand might be forced by the impending Dzeko sale, and it is looking likely either Iheanacho or Pozo will stay with the club for depth purposes.
