Joe Hart (6.5): Hart kept his shutout streak going, though it was a quiet day for him (thanks to some outstanding work from the back line). Sprawling saves are entertaining to watch, but a mundane day at the office is not a terrible thing for a goalkeeper.
Bacary Sagna (7.5): Pablo Zabaleta is a talented right fullback, but Sagna continues to impress back there. After making just 16 total appearances for City last season, it was natural to wonder exactly how he would fit into the team moving forward. Well, he is fitting into the starting XI just fine. Zabaleta is recovering from a knee injury, but Sagna will not relinquish his starting position easily if his output continues to be so consistent.
Vincent Kompany (8.0): Kompany teamed up with Mangala to do a masterful job on Romelu Lukaku, who was on terrific form heading into Sunday's contest. Kompany's mini scoring streak may have ended against Everton, but his steady play at the back did not.
Eliaquim Mangala (7.5): He matched Lukaku stride for stride and was breathing right down the massive Belgian's neck when he would drop a bit deeper to collect. Nicolas Otamendi is now in town, but Mangala is going about his business at the back and is looking more than capable of the job.
Aleksandar Kolarov (8.5): An hour into the game, Kolarov made a wonderful overlapping run before tucking the ball into the back of the net. Near post finish from a tight angle? No problem. He continues to produce at both ends of the field. He does not falter at the defensive end and always looks a threat when bombing down the left flank.
Yaya Toure (7.5): Everton did not try to play over the top for the most part, so the defensive center mid duo of Toure and Fernandinho kept play in front of them and gave City a significant advantage in midfield. Toure's assist to Samir Nasri for City's second goal was as causal and effective as the player who provided it.
Fernandinho (7.5): The 4-2-3-1 works brilliantly when both holding mids are intelligent defenders. Fernandinho seals up the middle of the field very well, which was another reason why Lukaku and company were kept in check.
Jesus Navas (7.5): Navas facilitated play beautifully and helped open up the middle of the field for Silva. He is a perpetual threat on the right flank in terms of creating chances. It was another all-around performance from the winger, and he nearly topped it off with a goal of his own. Navas and Sterling do an excellent job of stretching out opposing defenses laterally, committing the outside backs and thus freeing up the conductor Silva to float about freely.
David Silva (8.5): He is surrounded by a star-studded supporting cast, but Sunday's match once again proved why the ball needs to be at his feet as frequently as possible. Silva gave his side the edge in possession early on, and Everton never established a similarly effective rhythm in the game.
Raheem Sterling (8.0): Inundated with boos every single time he touched the ball, Sterling had quite a good showing. He failed to connect on a low cross for what would have been his first Premier League goal, but he did provide a lovely assist to Kolarov. He and Kolarov are looking increasingly menacing together on the left side. He was unlucky to not have another assist in the 47th minute, as Silva rang one off the pipe.
Sergio Aguero (7.5): Even when he does not find the back of the net, Aguero gives back lines all they can handle. He forced two excellent saves out of Tim Howard within the first ten minutes of play. Everton's defense is short-staffed at the moment, which was only exacerbated in Sunday's fixture when Brendan Galloway was forced to exit the match prematurely. Aguero's movement into dangerous areas and tenacity to win every ball make him so much more than just a goal scorer, and Sunday was proof of that.
Substitutes:
Samir Nasri (7.5): Nasri replaced Sterling on 76 minutes and made an instant impact. Some 12 minutes after entering the fold, he dinked one over Howard to make it 2-0. It was a lovely feed from Toure, and Nasri's finish was pure class. He was outstanding during his quarter-hour or so on the pitch.
Wilfried Bony (6.0): Bony came on for Aguero with just nine minutes remaining in regulation, and he did not make much of a mark on the game during his minimal time out there.
Fabian Delph (6.0): Delph made his Premier League debut, replacing Silva in the final minute of regulation.
