AS Roma has stepped up its pursuit of Edin Dzeko in the last 24 hours according to published reports. Following the completion of the Raheem Sterling deal which appears imminent, the Blues will have to shed more payroll in order to comply with UEFA Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules for next season.
Dzeko who arrived at the club in January 2011 was a consistent performer between August 2011 and the lifting of the club's second Premier League title in May 2014. However, the 2014-15 season yielded his worst form in a City shirt and led directly to the Blues paying £35 million for Wilfried Bony in January 2015.
Also likely headed for a City exit is Steven Jovetic who has underwhelmed in two injury-plagued seasons at the club.
