Why Did Sergio Aguero Miss Out On The PFA Awards?

One from the past weekend but after missing out on the shortlist for the PFA Player of the Year award it was no surprise that Sergio Aguero was not selected to the Team of the Year either:

Unsurprisingly given they were named on the final shortlist of six, it was Harry Kane and Diego Costa that took the two forward positions.

Both would no doubt have benefited from being hot over the first half of the season in particular (voting is conducted late February/early March), with Aguero having missed the latter part of 2014 through injury.

Aguero's goal against Aston Villa last weekend though saw him move atop of the Premier League scoring charts with 21 goals, yet he missed out on selection again - as he has done in each of the seasons he has been at City. What is it with Aguero that means he misses out on such acknowledgement?

Has the level of his play been such that he is taken for granted? After all, previous seasons for both Luis Suarez and Robin van Persie saw them garner the headlines and platitudes yet Aguero somehow continues to slip under the radar. A victim of his own excellence?
