The young Dutch defender helped PSV win the title this season but their hopes of a third successive loan season appear to have been dashed with the player reportedly saying that City had other plans:
"Manchester City has a plan to loan me in a different league. Now I just enjoy the moment and we will see what happens next season."
This appears to rule out the possibility of Rekik remaining at the club and challenging along with Jason Denayer for the fourth defensive spot behind Vincent Kompany, Martin Demichelis and Eliaquim Mangala.
Does it also suggest that a Premier League loan is on the cards? City appear to have built links with clubs in La Liga and Ligue 1 but given his age and development it makes sense to for Rekik to have a final season in the Premier League ahead of returning to City on a full time basis.
