After the disappointing derby loss at Old Trafford, City responded in a crucial win over West Ham United, where they had control of the pace and dominated most of the game at the Etihad in hopes of securing a top four spot in the league table and chasing United for third place. City played a great team game and a lot of players had an impact in this important win.

Joe Hart - 7

Joe Hart didn't have much to deal with this in this contest as West Ham wasn't able to generate too much offense. He did make some key saves later in the game and achieved a clean sheet in the 2-0 win.

Aleksandar Kolarov - 7

Kolarov had some good attempts at goal in this game and despite some misplaced crosses, he was able to generate some legitimate chances and had a decent attempt from a free kick strike.

Eliaquim Mangala - 8

Mangala started this game as the injured Vincent Kompany's replacement. Big shoes to fill and he filled them completely, against a weak attacking team mind you, but Mangala showed strength in his tackles and dominated his central defending spot.

Martin Demichelis - 7

The Argentine defender had a good come back performance after his poor form at the derby. He made some key tackles and also had some good passes that opened up the offense.

Fernando - 6

Fernando didn't do too much in this game but did enough to help his club secure the victory that they desperately needed.

Frank Lampard - 7

Lampard had his moments in the contest against his old club, West Ham United. He had some opportunities and helped generate attacking opportunities.

Yaya Toure - 8

After his horrid performance at the derby, Toure came back to prove his critics wrong. Wearing the Captain's arm band, Yaya Toure made a key sliding pass that helped break City free to score their second goal of the match.

David Silva - 7

David Silva was a big part of the incredible play that continually put pressure on the West Ham defenders. He was always in the mix during attacking play and fell to an injury half way through the second half, but he made his impact.

Jesus Navas - 9

The great play by Jesus Navas did not go unnoticed as he was named man of the match and deservingly so. He made the strike that lead to the own goal against West Ham and he made a wonderful pass to Aguero for City's second goal of the match.

Sergio Aguero - 8

Another great game for Sergio Aguero. Scoring the second goal of the match, Aguero now moves into the sole position for league leader in goals, with 20. His excellent form continues.

Substitutions:

Samir Nasri (for David Silva, 74 mins) - 7

Samir Nasri came on for the injured David Silva and was a great choice as a replacement. Nasri came off of the bench and immediately picked where David Silva left, helping generate offense for City.

Fernandinho (for Lampard, 87 mins) - 6

Fernandinho came on for Lampard and didn't see much action but he did break up a play that could have lead to a West Ham opportunity.

Edin Dzeko (for Aguero, 90 mins)

Dzeko didn't have a lot of time to make an impact for City, seeing 9 minutes of action where he had a rather weak attempt at goal, but an attempt none the less.
