FOX Sports (United States) Soccer Analyst Grant Wahl who also writes for Sports Illustrated raised the strong possibility that Patrick Vieira who currently leads the MCFC Elite Development Squad might be moved to team's sister club in the USA. New York City FC missed the MLS Playoffs this season despite the signings of David Villa, Frank Lampard and Andrea Pirlo.
Jason Kreis who managed NYCFC is considered one of the top American coaches and is one of the leading goal scorers in the history of nation's domestic club game. However, Kreis who previously achieved great success with Real Salt Lake seemed to have trouble juggling a side with multiple global stars, many journeymen MLS players and other players from US lower divisions such as NASL and USL. Kreis has not been sacked as of yet, and might well save his job since he is well thought of within the US. New York City FC finishes its inagural MLS campaign this weekend at home against New England.
Vieira has been long considered a likely long-term option to manage Manchester City. If the former French World Cup and Euro winner were sent to City Football Group's US project to gain first-team management experience it would indicate that the long-term vision of him as the Blues Manager is still in the cards.
