World Cup Day 12: Open Thread

And the simultaneous matches begin

Jamie Squire

Today's schedule:

- Netherlands v Chile, 12pm EST (ESPN), Group B, Sao Paulo
- Australia v Spain, 12pm EST (ESPN2), Group B, Curitiba
- Croatia v Mexico, 4pm EST (ESPN), Group A, Recife
- Cameroon v Brazil, 4pm EST (ESPN2), Group A, Brasilia

The marquee matchup of the day is surely Croatia v Mexico. Second place in the group is on the line and both teams are playing well. Both Holland and Chile have both sealed their progress into the next round so the only thing left to be decided in Group B is who finishes first and who finishes second. Both teams will be looking to get a win and avoid the likely group A winners, Brazil, in the next round. Shocking to say that Spain are merely playing for pride at this point.

City players in action: Ferny (Brazil), Merlin (Spain)

Former City players in action: De Jong (Netherlands), Maicon (Brazil), Corluka (Croatia)

Players I'd love to see in City blue: Paulinho (Lolz jk), Modric (Croatia), Alexis (Chile)
