Karim Rekik joins PSV on loan

Young defender Karim Rekik has joined Dutch side PSV Eindhoven on loan for the 2013/14 season. Per mcfc.co.uk:

Holland Under-19 international Karim Rekik has joined PSV Eindhoven on a season-long loan.

The highly-rated central defender will look to add to the experience gained during loanspells with Portsmouth and Blackburn Rovers last season.

Rekik, 18, played eight times for Pompey and a further five times for Blackburn Rovers while he's also appeared on three occasions for the Blues after making his debut against Birmingham City in 2011.

This should be a good move for Rekik. As a player he looks to have made strides over the past twelve months but with the progression of Matija Nastasic and the likelihood that Joleon Lescott remains at the club his opportunities at City would be limited.

PSV will be challenging for honours both domestically and Europe and he is expected to see decent minutes over the coming season which will see him well placed for a bigger role at City in 2014/15.

Which loosely translates as 'First training in Psv is over. Feel good! Feels like a family. On to the league title.'
