The fixtures have afforded Manuel Pellegrini what looks to be a comfortable start to the season with hosting Newcastle on opening day before a pair of games against promoted sides Cardiff and Hull. Looming large early in the schedule though is the first Manchester derby in the fifth week of the season at The Etihad.

Jose Mourinho will bring his Chelsea side to The Etihad at the end of October and City face a potentially tricky Christmas and New Year period facing off against Liverpool, Crystal Palace and Swansea in a six day period.

The return derby is scheduled to be on 1st March which then sets City up for the final ten games of the season which, on paper at least, appears to be a favourable run of games to finish, with only trips to Arsenal and Everton and a home game against Liverpool that look threatening at this admittedly early stage.

Although the Champions League draw hasn't been made as yet David Mooney over at Bluemoon has a nice look at which fixtures could be impacted by City's European participation.
