Preview: City v Leicester

Richard Heathcote

Who's ready for some squad rotation?

As good as our team has been, it will be good to get everyone a mid-week rest. I wouldn't be surprised to see 9 changes from the team that played Arsenal. Only three players are out for sure, Micah, Matija, and Aguero

Joe Hart is a lock to start in goal. Pablo Zabaleta will have to play, since Micah is injured (again...). Joleon Lescott will get a run out, most likely alongside Demichelis. Kolarov on the left. Jack Rodwell should finally get a start, probably alongside Javi Garcia. Navas and Milner should get starts on the wing, with Stevan Jovetic and Edin Dzeko starting up front.

It will be good to see how Jovetic looks, since he might have to take over some minutes with Aguero out. It's pretty hard to see Negredo and Dzeko playing well together. They have really only played well together once, against Viktoria Plzen (even then it was only for 15 minutes). They played 110 minutes together in the last round of the cup against Newcastle, but didn't score any goals for the first 90 minutes of it. I would also like to see John Guidetti get a few chances here and there. He's only 21, but has shown some amazing promise.

Leicester City are probably going to throw in the towel on this one. They've got 6 matches in the next 20 days, including one this weekend at QPR. If they win that one, they will draw level with them for 1st place in the Championship. Getting promoted this season is more important than the semi-finals of the League Cup, so I imagine that we won't see too many of their key players.

Fact of the matter is, we should win handily in this match. On the other hand, anything can happen, especially when we play away.

Prediction: City wins 5 - 1.
