City break into the top 10 football money list

Deloitte Football Money League 2013

The Deloitte Sports Business Group presents the Deloitte Football Money League 2013

The full report (which is worth reading) can be accessed here but below is a summary of City's key numbers:

  • City are up five places to seventh and it marks the first time they have cracked the top ten.
  • Their annual revenue was £285.6m, a 51% growth year on year and the highest of all clubs on the list.
  • This was broken down as follows: £138.5 commercial, £109 broadcasting and £38.1 matchday, the latter trailing in comparison to the other top six and despite the £4.2m increase (16%) is the likely reason the club are so seriously looking at stadium expansion.
  • The matchday revenue of 13% compares far less favourably against Premier League rivals Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea. Notably, City's match day revenue was a third of Arsenal's, yet their commercial revenue was double (and before the new Nike deal is taken into account).

And finally, an interesting look back at the reports from previous years: 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012.
