Inter Milan defender Maicon has completed a move to Manchester City for a fee believed to be in the region of £3 million. The 31-year-old Brazilian defender has played 66 times for his country and has previously worked with Roberto Mancini at Inter.

"I'm very happy to have signed with Manchester City. I can't wait to go to the Etihad Stadium and meet the fans that supported the club last year and I hope they support me this year and we can bring a lot of good results. Cheers."

The move will strengthen the backline, with Micah Richards still out indefinitely with an ankle injury, and Stefan Savic seemingly headed to Fiorentina in a move for 19-year-old Matija Nastasic.
