Manchester City have cleared Emmanuel Adebayor off their books, with the Togolese striker completing his move from City to Tottenham Hotspur. The two teams agreed to a transfer fee long ago, but Adebayor and Spurs struggled to agree on contract terms. The two parties finally came to an agreement this week and Tottenham announced the transfer on Tuesday.

Adebayor was on wages of £175k per week at City and had to take a pay cut to join Tottenham, though the terms of his contract have not been disclosed. The transfer fee has also not been disclosed, but City reportedly received £5m for the striker.

While playing for Tottenham on loan last season, Adebayor scored 17 goals and tallied 11 assists. Unfortunately for Adebayor, his solid form did not win him a chance to play his way back into City's team, nor did it generate serious interest in his services from clubs other than Tottenham. Adebayor was unlikely to be included in City's 25-man Premier League squad if he was not sold, and they'll be happy to move on from a player who was not in their plans.
