Stat hit: City v Wigan

City return to Premier League action tomorrow following the international break and will be confident of maintaining their 100% start to the season against Wigan, who narrowly avoided relegation on the final day of last season.

The corresponding fixture in 2010/11 is in an interesting one to look at given it was one where City struggled to break down doughty opposition and got the points largely thanks to an error from goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi.

Games such as that one were a driving force behind Roberto Mancini adding offensive weapons such as Sergio Aguero and Samir Nasri: players who could be the difference makers in tight games that often frustrated City and this is an area borne out in the stats from this season so far, courtesy of EPL Index.
