City garnered plenty of headlines as six of the squad were on the pitch as England rounded off a 3-1 victory over Switzerland yesterday. Four - Joe Hart, Joleon Lescott, Gareth Barry and James Milner - started the game, whilst Adam Johnson and Shaun Wright-Phillips were introduced as substitutes. [The Guardian]

Adam Johnson earned plenty of plaudits and grabbed his second consecutive goal in England colours, moving Dominic Fifield to label him "a natural at this level". [The Guardian]

Ireland also grabbed their second consecutive victory with Shay Given in goal for their 3-1 win over Andorra [The Telegraph], whilst Nigel de Jong and the Netherlands maintained their 100% record with a narrow 2-1 victory against Finland - although he was labelled 'a flop'. [goal.com]

There was disappointment however for Vincent Kompany and Belguim as their hopes took a blow with a 3-2 defeat against Turkey, with Kompany sent off on the hour mark. [uefa.com]

In friendly action, Carlos Tevez was on the scoresheet as Argentina pulled off a surprise 4-1 victory over World Champions Spain. [The Telegraph]...
