Blackburn player ratings

Hart - Brought down to earth after a flying start to the season with the error that gifted Blackburn's goal. Redeemed himself slightly with a smart save late on. 5.5

Richards - Competent enough defensively but lacked the attacking skills required for the formation deployed. 6

Kolo Toure - Culpable to a degree on the first goal but solid enough elsewhere. 6

Kompany - Any doubts over the security of his place heading into the season are now gone. Another good performance and looks totally at ease. 7

Lescott - Not exposed as a makeshift full-back but although he got himself in attacking positions, he couldn't execute. 6

Vieira - In for his first league start and a smart move that began and finished the equaliser. Was allowed time on the ball but perhaps didn't do quite enough with it. 6.5

Yaya Toure - Again looked composed and comfortable but there is a nagging feeling he is not quite up to the levels expected as yet. 6.5

Milner - Stats suggest he created eight goalscoring opportunities but distribution was a little off key. 6

Wright-Phillips - A surprise starter and made little headway against a tough Blackburn defence. 5.5

Johnson - Again looked dangerous with his direct approach. A slight criticism could be that he isn't tallying the goals that he should. Unlucky not to get a late penalty. 7

Tevez - Dispelled any injury concerns and was as bright and involved as ever. Had enough chances to have won the game but wasn't quite firing in front of goal. 7

Subs:

Jo - Was ok(ish). A couple of decent opportunities might have gone in on another day, but did nothing to suggest we shouldn't have added a striker before the deadline. 6

Barry - Added some impetus to the attacking game. 6.5

Silva - Was involved plenty considering he had little over five minutes. Needs more meaningful minutes. 6
