World Cup 2010 - Tevez and Argentina almost through

Greece's come from behind victory over Nigeria may have taken matters to the final games in the group, but following an impressive 4-1 win over South Korea it looks extremely likely that Argentina will close out the group with at least the point required to see them progress as group winners.

Unsurprisingly, it was the attacking elements of Argentina's play that was the stand out feature with the front trio of Messi, Tevez and Higuain again impressing.

Individually their styles may be very different - Higuain providing the goals, Messi the creativity and Tevez the industry, but credit to Diego Maradona for meshing them together to form an effective unit.

It would also perhaps be an injustice to merely suggest Tevez's work rate and graft are the only elements he offers. Familiar sights to City fans were his willingness to drop deep - often being the spark for attacking forays, and his strength and tenacity in possession (witnessed with how we won the free-kick that led to the second goal).

Equally important though is the pace he plays the game at, constantly on the move and recycling possession which makes him a tough player to contain, and of course also creates room for the likes of Messi to exploit. Whilst this may not see him often finish games (he was withdrawn with a shade over fifteen minutes remaining yesterday) his place in the starting line-up looks to be assured for the duration of the tournament.

Sitting on six points, Argentina merely need to avoid defeat against Greece in their final game to go through as winners and play the runners-up of Group A in the last sixteen - likely Mexico or Uruguay, something they should be more than capable of achieving.
