A quick turnaround then from the Boxing Day victory at Newcastle and you have to think Roberto Mancini will likely switch things around for this game in terms of selection.

Arsenal of course defeated Chelsea yesterday evening, a result that allows City to stretch their lead over Chelsea (albeit having played two games more at the end of today) to seven points. Motivation indeed.

City have dominated this fixture: losing only two of the past seventeen and winning seven of the previous eight meetings.

Villa have also been defeated on their previous three visits to Eastlands and are in a poor run of form of late, losing five of the past six and have only taken four points from eight away games. Both this and the New Years Day game against Blackpool provide an opportunity for City to put an end to some of their patchy home form and it would be a big surprise if all three points weren't picked up today - putting City on top of the table for a short time at least.
