Wolves player ratings

Hart - Some questions on the first goal, but to my mind that would be harsh. Little he could do with the second. 6

Richards - A lack of support in front of him but is struggling when up against a winger of pace and quality. 5

Toure - Possibly rushed back into action and his poorest game of the season. Should have done better on Wolves' second. 5

Kompany - Less a partnership with Toure but operated as two disparate individuals. Lost the battle against Kevin Doyle. 5

Boateng - Like Richards, struggled against the wide threat Wolves possessed. Fairly sound defensively but hasn't disproved the theory that Pablo Zabaleta is the best left back currently available. 5

Yaya Toure - A deeper role in de Jong's absence and totally ineffectual. A better player when in a more advanced role and out of the game for the most part yesterday. 4.5

Barry - Eyes were on him after the midweek stories and failed badly. A lethargic and anonymous performance when it needed drive and energy. 4

Milner - The pick of the midfield trio. More central than seen so far this season. Limited success but continued to plug away and attempt to create, unlike most in the side. 6

Silva - Comfortably the best on show yesterday. Remained inventive and energetic and showed good skill and technique to win the penalty. Final ball could have been better though. 7

Balotelli - A lively and feisty opening to the game and showed touches of quality. Faded badly in the second half as the team struggled. The hope is that was a result of fitness rather than application. 5.5

Adebayor - A very good first half made Tevez's absence appear a non-issue. Struggled to stay in the game after the break but he should have remained on the field rather than substituted. 6.5

Substitutes:

Johnson - Immediately impacted on the game and troubled the full backs. Failed to deliver a final ball however. 6.5

Zabaleta - Didn't have a great deal to do as City tried to go on the front foot. Still managed to pick up a 'trademark' yellow card. 5.5

Jo - One half chance where he should have hit with his right foot but very little time to get into the game. 5
