Game Thread: Manchester City @ Wolves

Wolves
Wolves

Manchester City do battle with Wolverhampton today, with City fresh off a disheartening loss to Arsenal last week. City will be without captain and catalyst Carlos Tevez, which will be a stern test of their character against any opponent, much less a very physical team like Wolves. City are tied with two other teams for 2nd place in the Premier League (Arsenal and Manchester United), which means that picking up points against mid-table teams is an absolute must.

Going into the game, there is the backdrop of the 'booze scandal' from earlier in the week, and of course no Carlos Tevez. Tevez's contribution has been immense this season and his absence is undoubtedly a huge blow. It is important therefore that the psychological blow of his absence is overcome and reports suggest that Mario Balotelli rather than Emmanuel Adebayor will be the man to fill the void.

It is with good timing then that David Silva has hit his stride the past couple of games and he will be an important presence this afternoon. Wolves are struggling so far this season, second bottom of the table and having failed to keep a clean sheet and only scoring eight goals in the process.
