World Cup 2014: Manchester City Players Named To Squads

Jasper Juinen

A day after Joe Hart and James Milner were named to England's squad a number of their Manchester City teammates were named to various national squads, as well as some notable omissions.

First up, trio David Silva, Jesus Navas and Alvaro Negredo were named in Spain's preliminary 30-man line up. Silva is clearly a shoo-in for the final cut but looking at the depth available to Vincente del Bosque, could a lack of minutes and form down the stretch spell bad news for Navas and Negredo?

Duo Pablo Zabaleta and Sergio Aguero make the Argentina squad, but there is no place for former-Blue Carlos Tevez. One man who has made the 30-man cut though is Martin Demichelis. Some turnaround in his season eh?

Captain Vincent Kompany will lead the much-fancied Belgian's and youngster Karim Rekik has made the 30-man cut for the Netherlands, whilst old boy Mario Balotelli will feature for Italy.

The news from the French squad announcement however is that - and not a huge surprise here - is that Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy have NOT been selected by Didier Deschamps.

Busy day all round then. Thoughts on the announcements?
