Manchester City legend Mike Doyle is to be honored by City fans at Wembley Stadium. The 1894 Group, which works to create atmosphere for City home and away, have spread the word that fans are to sing, "There's Only One Mike Doyle" during the fourth minute of the game in reference to his jersey number. A picture of Doyle will be shown on the stadium screens as well. I hope that it this one:
Doyle made 570 appearances for Manchester City including 448 League games. The imposing center back played in the Manchester City youth from 1962 to 1964. He joined the first team in 1965 and was a key member of the '65 - '66 team that won the Second Division and promotion to the First Division. Other honors included the League in '68, the FA Cup in '69, the UEFA Cup Winners Cup in '70 and the League Cup in '70 and '76.
